Interference of two identical travelling waves:

$$y(x,t)=\underset{\text{Amplitude component}}{\underbrace{2A\cos \left(\frac{\mathrm{\Delta }\varphi }{2}\right)}}\underset{\text{Traveling component}}{\underbrace{\sin (k{x}_{avg}\pm \omega t+({\varphi }_0{)}_{avg})}}$$

• $\mathrm{\Delta }x$ is the difference between distance travelled.
• $\mathrm{\Delta }t$ is the time delay.
• $\mathrm{\Delta }{\varphi }_0$ is the intrinsic phase difference (phase difference between the waves at emission).
